Waiting for the perfect puppy...
Many families contact us early hoping to get in line a year or more before a litter is even bred. We love families that plan ahead! However, we don’t like to make commitments this far in advance. Too many things can change both on my end as well as with families. Therefore, we will not open a list until after one of our girls is in season or very shortly before. If you are interested in a future French Bulldog puppy, keep an eye on our website.
We will announce our litters via email invitation to our mailing list and also on 'our current litter'page.
Opening a List
Prior to ultrasound, we will reserve up to six puppies per litter. Our average litter size is between 4-8 puppies
It tends to work well if we reserve 3 puppies per sex per litter before a litter is bred, with one or two families that a flexible on sex.
(It is important to keep in mind that there are times when there are less than 3 puppies of one sex or the other and unfortunately there are also times when a breeding doesn’t take at all)
A deposit on an unborn puppy from us secures a place on our list but it does not secure a puppy. We can tell you exactly where you fall on our list and how many puppies of your sex must be born in order for you to get a puppy
An ultrasound can be done around day 30 of pregnancy and at that point we will receive confirmation that we are expecting a litter and a rough indication on the litter size, however this is hard to gauge as puppies move around and the whole uterus is not able to be viewed on the screen at one time.
Deposits
An email will be sent out with information on the parents, pricing and an invitation to complete a litter application form . On receipt of a completed application form we will contact successful applicants with further details in regards placing a deposit to secure your place in the wait list.
Deposits are fully refundable to those who do not receive a puppy with their specified gender or colour as specified in the application form. Most families ask us to keep their deposit so that they can wait on another litter, we will only keep a deposit if we have another planned litter with availability. Generally, we don’t keep deposits for the long term, as we do not like to keep an excessive number of deposits. In addition, we are a small breeder with only a few breeding girls, we don’t have a lot of litters.
Keeping you up to date
Now that a deposit has been received and you are on our numbered waiting list we will keep you up to date on how the litter is going. After the birth of the puppies we will send out an email with the birth announcement and some photos. We will also regularly update our Instagram page, keeping future puppy parents up to date on how the litter is progressing.
Puppy Selections
With most litters, the selection process starts at around 4/5 weeks. We wait as late as possible because the older puppies are, the more playful and interactive they are. Once again we send out an email to those on our waiting list inviting families to come to our home to visit the puppies themselves, have a cuddle and make their selection.
Individual puppies are photographed and added to our website.
Ready to go home
Puppies are ready to go to their new homes from 8 weeks. By this stage they have had their first dose of vaccinations, vet check, regularly wormed, will be used to using a doggy door and started on their journey to being toilet trained.
On pickup we generally allow a 30 minute time slot as we require forms to be completed for their pedigree papers, and microchipping register. We also run through general day to day care and ongoing maintenance of your puppy and will provide all this on information sheets as it is a lot to remember at such an exciting time!
